The Military Academy is the foundry of valiant men and the first educational edifice in Egypt and the Middle East and  Africa. It’s a pride of homeland through its deep-rooted history .That educational military edifice is considered the oldest in the Middle East and Africa for it dates back to 1811.

Mohamed Ali Pasha -the founder of modern Egypt- was the first to concern over building a strong Egyptian army based upon his previous knowledge of organized western armies. That was to be made on the basis of science, training, and optimal selection of individuals capable of meeting these standards.

Muhammad Ali Pasha was driven by his ambitions of building a distinguished army made up of Egyptians, who differ from Mamluks and their techniques. He also worked on building a strong army based on obedience, discipline, and loyalty. In order to achieve that, he adopted the following strategies:-

Sending the mixed army to the long-range campaigns (Hejaz / Sudan).

Getting rid of Mamluk leaders (castle massacre) on March 2nd, 1811.

Building military schools to graduate officers who assume the command of the army.

The first Military Academy Commandant after the revolution of 1952 was (Maj. Gen Abdul Wahid Ammar), batch number (1), from august 3rd, 1952 to may 7th, 1957.
The first minister of defense of post-revolution graduates is (Field Marshal. Muhammad Hussein Tantawy) batch number (35), graduated on April 1st, 1956.
The first Chief of Staff of the Armed Forces of post-revolution graduates is (Lt. Gen Muhammad Salah Eddin Halaby), batch number (36), graduated on November 1st, 1952.
The first Military Academy commandant of post-revolution graduates is (Maj. Gen Mahmoud Elmasry), batch number (30), graduated on august 9th, 1952.

On February 13th, 1969, the cadet’s title was changed to be (a fighting cadet) in order to assure having the fighting professionalism quality once he joins the military academy. That was during the tenure of Gen. Mahmoud Zaky Abdul latif as the Military Academy Commandant

The names of the martyrs and commanders were initially given to the Military Academy batches since the graduation of batch 43 on October 21st, 1962 which named for martyr Mohammed Galal.
