THE DEVELOPMENT OF THE NAVAL COLLEGE


 
t was established in October 1946 in maritime region called RAS EL-TEEN. The first superintendent was commander/ Mohammed Yahya Shokree. The first group was admitted on 15 October 1946.They were 50 cadets who joined the military academy for six months to receive the primary military training then completed their studies for two years in the Naval College.
In 1952 after the revolution, cadets from Saudi Arabia, Kuwait, the Emirates, Bahrain, Oman, Yemen, Syria, Iraq, Libya, Algeria, Morocco, Somalia, Nigeria and Tanzania.were being welcomed in the College for the first time In 1965.
The Naval College moved to its new site in ABOU-KIR.
The studies at the  college became four years. They included specializations  in navigation, Rockets, Artillery, under water weapons, Signal and Coastal Guard. Ten groups were graduated accoring to this system .
In 1959-1972, before the establishment of the Arab Academy, the college started to qualify cadets from African and Arab countries to serve as naval officers and engineers in the naval commercial fleet.

In 1988, Co-operation with the American Academy Annapolis started developing methodology and providing educational labs and model educational aids. means of intertainment were also improved in a bid to keep up with the best Naval College all over the world .
After half acentury -the age of the college - graduates from different countries began to assume command in different navies which helped to maintain good and strong relations with the world.

SYRIA - ALGERIA - SUDAN - SAUDI ARABIA - MOROCCO - LIBYA -OMAN - SOMALIA - BAHRAIN - IRAQ - UNITED ARAB EMIRATES - KUWAIT - YEMEN - ZAIRE - TANZANIA - GUINEA - SOMALIA.
