During rebuilding the Egyptian Armed Forces after the war of June 1967, and as a result of learned lessons from the study of the war results, an urgent need emerged to develop the system of qualifying the technical assurance members of the armed forces by the establishment of the Technical Institute to supply the armed forces with technical officers to work efficiently in the units, workshops, educational and technical facilities.

The Military Technical Institute of the Armed Forces was established on the third of November 1968, started with 5 educational groups, and developed to include nowadays 9 educational groups in recent years, to graduate professional officers with high technical and academic competence to occupy positions of the technical officers in different specialties of the armed forces.

During October, 1973 war, the technician officers made every effort to achieve technical competence for all weapons and equipment involved in the battle, so they had been one of the major axis that contributed to the great October victory.

The Technical Institute of The Armed Forces is considered now a major branch in the technical assurance system of the armed forces for it depends on the Institute graduates in maintaining the technical efficiency of weapons and equipment to remain the Armed Forces as the protective shield for the security and safety of the nation.
