THE ROLE
OF THE (EAF) DURING THE TRIO-ATTACK
(ISRAELI, FRENCH &BRITISH) ASSAULT ON EGYPT IN1956
| The attack began by air dropping a group
of Israeli Airborne East of Matla path at
night on the 29th of October 1956. The Egyptian L.U-28 Heavy Bombers started bombarding the
Israeli Airborne positions at
night.
Also, they attacked some positions inside Israel itself. On the following day an Air combat had evolved between the Egyptian Vampire Aircraft &the Israeli Super Masteer . On the morning of the 30th of October the Mithore & Vampire squadrons, which were located along the Suez Canal airports, successfully attacked the Israeli Airborne Forces, halted aid sent to them & prevented these troops from proceeding West. Mig 15/ 17 aircraft took part in the fighting although the pilots didn't finish their training. During this period the E gyptian pilots successfully accomplished their missions , and were superior. |
