| 1- The establishment of the Egyptian Air
Defense Artillery goes back to the period preceding world war two . In 1938 , the Air Defense Artillery was formed as a main component of the artillery service when the British 3-inch Cannon went into service along with searching lights and the 40mm.Puffers Gun . during that time the air defense artillery elements took part in securing the capital and the seaport of Alexandria in world war II .

| 7- In 1962, air defense missiles were
introduced to the service besides the air defense artillery elements . 8- In 1963 , the air defense artillery Eighth Division was formed under the command of Maj.Gen. Ahmed Abd-el-Ellah Ali 9- In 1966 the Air Defense Artillery tenth Division was formed under the command of Maj.Gen. Khedr Khedr El-Damarwy. 10- After the aggression of June 1967 the republican decree No .199 of 1968 was issued stipulating the establishment of the Air Defense Forces as a new service under the direct command of the Minister of War Maj. Gen. Hassan K. Ahmed who, was appointed as Assistant to the minister of Defense for Air Defense Affairs.As well, Maj. Gen. Ali M. Boghdadi was appointed as the Air Defense Forces Chief of Staff . 11- Maj. Gen. Mohamad A. Fahmy was appointed as the Commander of the Air Defense Forces in 1969. |
