Egypt maintains strong and balanced relations with various international powers . Its international and regional axes of movement have improved within
the frame of maintaining good relations with traditional friends .It has also activated political , economic and cultural relations with other states world - wide .

Egypt has the leading role among the Arab and Middle East countries in different aspects. It plays an effective role in the peace process in the region .

Egypt has the largest population compared to the other countries of the region . The current population of “65” millions is expected to grow by another 15 - 20 millions during the next twenty years, however Only 4% of the total area of Egypt is heavily inhabited

Egypt is exerting much efforts to exploit the remaining area . The best area for economic expansion is the western desert . The only hindrance against such expansion is the existence of landmines and UXO .

The population of the western desert is expected to grow from 500 thousand to two millions due to domestic immigration , Although irrigation canals have been conttructed ,mine clearence is still considered a must in order to build the draining network,urban communities ,services as well as economic and touristie projects .
